Events

School events bring learning to life and help shape our school culture. They help students build confidence, connect with others and celebrate their progress. Events also give families a chance to be involved in school life and share in their child’s achievements.

Our school event may include:

Harmony Week and Book Week events

performances, concerts or school productions
fundraising, charity and community events

Thursday 26 March - Thiess Mining Her Future - Women in Mining Forum

Join us for a special event celebrating the incredible journeys of women at Thiess who have rolled up their sleeves and stepped into the world of mining. From environment and finance to people management, engineering, marketing and communication, safety, site work and so much more - there's an opportunity for everyone at Thiess! Thursday 30 April to Friday 1 May - Year 7 Camp - Lake Keepit Sport and Recreation Centre

Our Year 7 students will attend a one-night camp at Lake Keepit Sport and Recreation Centre, Tamworth, from Thursday, 30 April to Friday 1 May 2026. This camp provides an exciting opportunity for students to participate in a range of outdoor and team-building activities designed to help them get to know each other, build positive relationships and develop confidence as they begin high school.

Book Week - Little Sprouts Reading Day

Date: August

Time: All day

Book Week is a special time at our school where we celebrate a love of reading through our Little Sprouts Community Reading Day. This day is all about planting the seed to read by promoting a love of books from an early age. Students from Merriwa Central School are joined by students from our community. Together they walk through town with their teachers, visiting local businesses where community members read stories aloud. Students, parents and teachers follow a special schedule that includes visits to both the Merriwa Central school library and the Town Library.

Our annual Variety Night has always been held in conjunction with Education Week and is a spectacular night to showcase the talent and dedication of both students and staff.
