NAIDOC 2019

Students celebrate NAIDOC Day on Friday 2 August, 2019

On the Primary Campus last Friday all classes celebrated NAIDOC Day.  Each class participated in various activities during the day and also enjoyed a special recess and lunch provided by our fabulous P&C Canteen.

There were five activities provided for the enrichment of the students’ understanding of Indigenous culture.  These were:  Aboriginal Story time, boomerang decorating, Indigenous games, mosaic rainbow serpent and a collage of Uluru.

All the students enjoyed themselves and the biggest hits of the day were the Indigenous games with Mr Davies and Mrs Martin, followed closely by the decorating of the boomerangs.  The level of artistic flair shown by the students was outstanding and all of the artwork was very well executed.

Recess brought a special treat of handmade damper and honey with hot milo.  There was a very definite show of thumbs up when the students were asked if they were enjoying this treat.  The students were able to take their artwork home to share with the families.  The Rainbow Serpent Mosaics will be on display in the Primary office foyer in the next week for parents to view.

Overall the day was a big success and was valued by students and staff.  I would like to thank all the staff for their support of the activities and their creative input which enhanced the delivery of the activities, making the day that much more enjoyable for the students.
