University of Newcastle Health Expo

On Friday 26 July, University of Newcastle Health Services held a Rural Health Expo in the Merriwa Central School Hall.  Students from Year 9, 10, 11 and 12 participated in the eight workshops, exploring Diet and Nutrition, Podiatry, Physiotherapy, Resuscitation, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Digital Radiography and Trauma Care.  The students were engaged and participated well in each session.  They were intrigued by the use of a wheelchair and the fake blood in the Trauma Care presentation.  Information about the degrees and courses offered by University of Newcastle, including New Step, was provided to students at the end of the Expo.  A big thank you to Jane Hegarty for organising the Health Expo.
