Last Friday, Kindergarten students visited the Merriwa Colonial Museum for their very first excursion. They were so excited and couldn't walk there fast enough! We were greeted by Michael and Brian of Merriwa's Historical Society who took the time to give us a very interesting and engaging tour of the cottage and all of its historical artefacts.
Students were impressed by the many heirlooms we were shown, ranging from immaculate original telephones, sewing machines and typewriters to rabbit and dingo traps. They were delighted when they were able to each have a turn using a butter churner and a very old manual washing machine. This was a fantastic opportunity for Kindergarten to learn about our town's past and to appreciate how fortunate we are to have modern conveniences.
Thank you to Brian and Michael for looking after us so well and for your fascinating stories during our visit. Well done to Kindergarten for their beautiful manners throughout the entire visit and for representing our school so proudly.
