Merriwa Country Education Foundation award Education Grants to students

Merriwa Central School students were awarded grants of $3000 to help with their education expenses during 2019.  These grants were made up of donations from the Merriwa Welcoming Centre and Men's Shed, the Merriwa Rotary Angus Peebles Scholarship fund and the Merriwa Country Education Foundation.

Three students awarded were Shai Blackadder, Emily Towell and Tarnisha Winsor.  We wish the girls all the best with their future studies and look forward to hearing about their progress.

Past students of Merriwa Central that received grants include Hanna Byfield who has commenced her second year of Bachelor of Agriculture at University of New England and Breanna Goodear who is also in her second year studying Bachelor of Occupational Therapy at Charles Sturt University.  During 2018 Breanna became president of the Occupational Therapy group and joined the Student Consultative Committee.

It's always wonderful to hear of the success students when they leave school and continue working towards their career goals.

Shai Blackadder will be studying a Bachelor of Communications at Newcastle University

Emily Towell will be studying a Bachelor of Nursing at New England University

Tarnisha Winsor will be completing a Cert III in Beauty Therapy at TAFE before going to Charles Sturt University to study Criminology
